Meet the New CIO

IT and Tolling Manager David Greenfield was promoted recently to become HHB’s first Chief Information Officer (CIO).

"During his two and a half years with HHB, David has taken the organization to a new level of technological sophistication that positions us well for the future," says CEO Tony Wright.

"He has earned the respect of his colleagues and the senior management team with his quiet but deliberate style that has allowed the critical technological refresh of everything from our desktops and cyber infrastructure to camera systems and all the servers at the heart of what we do."

As HHB deals with the ever-increasing threat of cybersecurity attacks and prepares for e-Tolling, David will continue to refine the organization’s IT strategy and work with his team to develop an IT roadmap that will allow a secure and seamless experience for bridge users for years to come.

"This recognition would not have been possible without the support of the IT and Tolling team that throws everything they have into the job every day," said Greenfield. "We will need to continue to innovate to succeed and I'm confident we will do just that."

Wright said creating a CIO position is not only reflective of the good work David is doing, but also overdue recognition of how HHB is maturing as it readies for next-generation tolling options and plans for the future of the MacKay Bridge.

Prior to joining HHB, David spent 20 years in progressively senior positions with IT and consulting giant CGI in Halifax. He also worked with Maritime Life Assurance and with Medavie Blue Cross.

A hockey enthusiast, Greenfield is General Manager of the Basin Armada, a U16 AAA hockey team that recently captured the Atlantic championship.
